26 - Pentecost

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost, a very important day in the eyes of the Church! A solemnity is the highest rank of Liturgical celebrations. Pentecost is the feast day celebrating the Holy Spirit, who was poured out upon the disciples as promised by Christ (Acts 2:1-47)! Pentecost marks the day that the Holy Spirit provided the power for the apostles and disciples to be successful in carrying out the Great Commission! As a result of receiving their spiritual commission, a group of about one hundred and twenty (120) persons, including the Eleven Apostles and Mary, the mother of Jesus, obediently go back to the Upper Room in Jerusalem to pray and to wait for the promise of the Spirit(Acts 1:4)!
