John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire, which is necessary for the purification of our souls. In this present day we live between these two major events: the ministry of Jesus and the second coming of Jesus. The ministry of Jesus has shown us how to live in expectation of the return of Jesus, when He will judge the living and the dead (II Tim. 4:1). We, as obedient believers wait eagerly longing to receive that great gift of final purification and eternal life!
