This homily is the "launching" of the three-year public ministry of Jesus. The emphasis is upon Jesus fulfilling the Isaiah's prophecy where He says He is "anointed to bring glad tidings to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, let the oppressed go free, and proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord"! As we receive this message and turn our lives over to God, Jesus equips us also to minister these wonderful things to others!
